Ever experienced doing something you dread doing but turns out it benefited you even more?
Scattered documents, unlabeled folders, and random stuff on my work desk. This was my home office scenario for months already. I was living in a chaotic room with documents all over and I simply don’t mind. Until the day I decided to put a stop on this messy setup.
Back in 2016 when I was still working in one of the top accounting firms in Ayala, I dreaded doing one task: Labelling and fixing files. “I passed the board exams only to label and fix documents? It was a waste of time and energy”, I so thought back then. We spend days on proper documentation, printing labels, sticking the labels to folders, and envelopes just to make everything neat and tidy. Of course, the younger impatient me hated this part of the job and wanted some real action in my career as a Tax Associate. But still out of obedience, of course, I finished those tasks. Every bubble on the tape makes me a bit of an OC kind of person. I mastered it or so I thought.
Fast forward to today, I was doing my own documentation for my own business. AND I ENJOYED DOING IT. The satisfaction I got when I finally finished sorting out and labeling my folders makes me reminisce the days I used to do this for someone. Little did I know that this business skill of proper documentation I dreaded doing back then is really vital for my business and that I'll use it to my advantage now.

Kids, when you’re doing something you hate doing, just remember you’re doing it for a greater purpose. Maybe, you won’t realize and appreciate today, but soon you will.
