Apprehensive, insecure, yet happy-go-lucky girl. This was basically me during my growing years. Just a little background, I attended my elementary and secondary education in an all-girls school. It was crazy and great at the same time growing up with all these girls around me (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳-𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦). 😉
Anyway, so here’s the thing. I remember being consistent in the Top 10 in my high school class and then suddenly I wasn’t. I was hoping to be in honor roll during my high school graduation but I wasn’t. I grew up in an environment where I was always compared to others and believed that grades equate your worth. I always thought I did my best but always fall short of the expectations of others.
Fast forward to today, I believe I am a woman of worth. A lot has changed from that insecure girl who always depends her happiness to external factors. 11 years have passed and I can say there was truly a 180-degree turn in my life right when I entered college, went through the journey of the CPA board exam, got a few corporate stints, and now finally managing my own business.
You make your choices and your choices make you. Looking back, I realized how it’s very important that you surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you. 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐎, 𝐈𝐓’𝐒 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔. You are your own kind of beautiful; and make that known to the world by owning your mistakes, failing forward, being kind to others, and sincerely pull others up with you. You are one decision away to living the life you are meant to live.
There’s literally no point in comparing yourself to others, rather compare yourself to the person you were 10 years ago. Take a look back, who were you 10 years ago?
Bloom where you are planted,
Daisy 🌼
